Last Saturday Night

Turn stressed to desserts.

Well I got a better way to take away that stress - and this is the first and last time that I will do it (fingers crossed)

It was a stressful Saturday for me. The calls are unlimited, I still don't have any idea what will be my schedule for Christmas, my body was out of sync (due to moonlight schedule) and I'm the only one from my team in that 10-7pm shift.

I just want to relax by getting a good sleep; but since I drank alot of coffee, I need something to help me to snooze asap. So I got an idea of getting some booze (well, they rhyme so its fine haha)

TGIF got this unlimited mojito for 295php. I'm not a beer drinker and I prefer cocktails a lot since it has less alcohol content and I'm not a heavy drinker (cmon! I'm alone so better to drink moderately or else...)

Just as before I took a sip of my very much loved drink, I ordered their Cheeseburger Sliders 395php. The fries were awesome! It's not greasy and not too salty. I'm also satisfied with the cheeseburger. Made with 100% beef patty, they served it medium rare - which I liked and the aroma... I'm not a burger fan but this made me fall in love.

Customer service at TGIF as always is exceptional. Lester was always on the look out checking if I already finished my mojito to get a refill. He even made a mistake giving me 2 glasses of mojito haha (one was served by the manager -- I asked for a refill, and the other was given to me cause he is thinking I'm waiting a long time for my refill) It wasn't bad at all. My glass was unlimited and I just laughed it out cause I really looked like a brokenhearted (what else will you think. A girl drinking alone. haha)

I ended the night with only 3 rounds of mojito. I'm planning to drink 5 glasses but I already reached my limit on the 3rd. Maybe its not really my day to drink but it satisfied my craving to de-stress.

Tipsy Saturday night in Eastwood but it was awesome and I didn't regret doing it.

Wake up to a better morning!

December 1, 2013

This date is welcoming a new month and saying goodbye to my moonlight schedule. I ended my shift at 6am and it was my restday afterwards. Since I don't have work in the evening (and I'll wait again for another moonlight shift) I decided to celebrate with a good breakfast.

Funny that I'm celebrating because I'm back to my normal schedule (I work in the morning) but I suddenly miss my graveyard shift since the whole office is quiet and I can relax.

So whats for breakfast?

From Cubao to Tomas Morato (yes, I need to travel all the way TM since it is out my way and the store is not near the main road) I satisfied my craving with this Set B: my favorite kaya toast with boiled egg and a cup of kopi (110php). I so love the taste of coffee with condensed milk paired with crunchy kaya toast and soft eggs.

Great way to start the month and to unwind after a long workweek. Kopi Roti never fail to kick up my mornings. I also bought the famous Kopi Bun (50php) to go for my dad's brekky. I think it will take another month for me to be on moonlight again but the breakfast? I may drop by Kopi Roti this week.

Start your morning right!

Have a piece of heaven in New Manila: La Creperie Boheme

Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first ~ Ernestine Ulmer

It was a rainy day. Typhoon Yolanda hit the Philippines which was reported one of the strongest typhoon in the world. Metro Manila was not completely affected but we felt the strong winds and rain.

It may rain hard but it didn't stop us from visiting La Creperie. My cousin is leaving for Jeddah next week and this lunch-date was planned a week before that is why cancelling it was not a good idea.

We went there at 11am - just in time for their opening.  Good thing we decided to come in early cause after 45 mins, the store was full of customers.

The place was not big but there's enough to have a relaxing tea time. With French-inspired interiors, no way that you won't be able to remove your stress (I know that a full house can be stressful but who cares! We got a good space to eat)

Just like my first visit with La Creperie (Eastwood branch), me and my sister decided to order some crepes but this time we created our own twist.

My sister's choice: I will call it Nutty Dolce de Leche Strawberry Surprise 195php take note its not in the menu cause it is customized  (Crepe with Dolce de Leche syrup filled with strawberries and topped with walnut)

curious where the strawberries gone? it's inside :D

My custom pick: Tipsy Strawberry - Chocolate a la mode 305php (Flambeed Crepe filled with strawberries topped with Belgian Chocolate and Strawberry ice cream) -- this was heaven! The Grand Mariner complements the combo. Its like the missing link of chocolate - strawberry marriage to be love food.

one photo is not enough... awwww the strawberry, the chocolate and the grand mariner!

On the other hand, my cousin Divine ordered Pesto Cream Carbonara - 275php.  She let me taste the dish and it was amazing!  It was creamy and they use porcini mushrooms (hopefully I'm right with that lol)

For the drinks me and my sister ordered TWG's Silver Moon tea  165php - single (serving was good for 2 pax). While cuz ordered Paris Manila 115php (French chocolate with Tablea )

We never ended the lunch date that easy because we ordered another round of crepe! Sugar rush mode: on!

To end the sweet craving, Stawberry Mango Jubille 315php (crepe lightly served with fresh mangoes, strawberry and kiwi in orange rum sauce topped with vanilla ice cream -- on this it was served with starberry ice cream lol)

Another sweet experience with my family. To my cousin Divine, good luck to your endeavors! Until next sweet lunch date.

No wonder they call it Happy Cream Puff

On the second day of my birthday bash, we went to Lasema Spa located in Makati. While walking along Malugay street, I finally saw Happy Cream Puffs - my friend always post pictures from this shop and its really mouth watering lol

Well, I'm craving for some sweet treats even I'm on a diet ( a bite or two won't hurt right?). So after the spa my sister agreed we drop by to grab some goodies.

sorry for the bad reso of my pic. my hands are too shaky lol

They got a lot of flavors to choose from. From the classic caramel cream puff to dark chocolate with almonds. I bought a box of 10 -- 200php (well its not enough for me but I need to watch those calories... boo!!!)

I can say that each piece was heaven! the custard was velvety and creamy. Caramel was also crunchy and once you start eating one, you can't stop. It is best to consume it right away but it is still good the next day (btw, they put a reminder on the box) :) So thankful cause those babies satisfied my craving.

Aside from cream puffs they also offer eclairs and croquembouche tower. I'm planning to buy one tower but my sister gave me that "look" haha. Better not to mess with my partner in crime lol

No wonder they call it Happy Cream Puff... it will take you to cloud 9! sooo happy! Best celebration ever!

Give in to your craving!

The Birthday Girl Visits Little TokYo

Two days before my big day, my sister's birthday surprise for me was visiting Little Tokyo located in Pasong Tamo (Chino Roces Avenue) beside Makati Cinema Square.

The place is awesome! its like visiting a part of Tokyo... well I haven't been to Tokyo before but this is what I see in the pictures LOL

First stop:  Kagura

They are famous with their Okonomiyaki and "Tiger Themed" resto. If you wish to be seated on the small table, its better to make your reservations early since the place is small inside.

photobomb sighted lol (on the right)
reserved seat for someone else awwwww :(

First thing we ordered was Edamame (Boiled green soybean with salt) 107php

I'm not a fan of beans but this was an exception. Superb!

we ordered Okono mix (with pork, squid, shrimp and egg) 330php

and Modern Mix (with pork, squid, shrimp, egg and noodles) 360php. You can also jazz up your dish by adding some Katsuo - bushi (dried bonito shavings) 35php

The food was great and an order of okonomiyaki is already good for two. We are both full but she still got another surprise for me. Well its ok since it was a cheat day for both of us.

Next stop: Hana

One of the restaurants known for their Takoyaki 120php. Read alot of reviews from them but I think this one didn't met my expectation. I think its because we went there too early and they just opened the store. I can't taste the octopus that much :(

Despite the disappointment from takoyaki, another dish from Hana made my day. I fell in love with it on the first bite...

ohhhhhhhh Pork Senbei  (this dish will send you to cloud 9 - taste wise and yes, too much will lead to heart attack haha) 120php

That was indeed a great comfort food. For dessert, Kakigori (flavored shaved ice) 70php

Japanese version of snow cones (of course without the cone lol) I ordered strawberry (cause its pink) and my sister ordered Ramune (Cola) both are awesome most especially the pork senbei (hahaha I can't get over with that dish)

Pork Senbei... where have you been all my life

It was a great gift from sister. We invited my cousin to join us and she gave me a bottle of strawberry zinfandel for my birthday :) One of my best memorable birthday bash!

L'incontro Ristorante Italiano

Bon Apetit!

From Antipolo (Balaw - Balaw restaurant), my food journey leads me to Makati where my sister works (Yehey! my food partner is back) She entice me to have a lunch date with her to one of Makati's chic resto and that was L'Incontro Ristorante Italiano.

It is located at 207 Nicanor Garcia St. (Formerly Reposo St.) Makati. Just near the newly built jazz condo.

Thanks to Deal Grocer, I was able to get a deal from this elegant restaurant. It was a set meal for two for only 975php (original price is 2,000php)

We chose a set that was served with red wine. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. The place sets a cozy mood -- a good time to relax from work.

We started with Antipasto Piatto (assorted cheese and salami, eggplant capresse with basil with homemade flat bread and freshly made focassia)

The flatbread and focaccia was fantastic! All items got its distinctive taste and the cheese was not too strong to the palette that made me wanting for more. However the best part of the meal was

Manzo Alla Griglia (Japanese Wagyu steak cubes) I can say that I was in heaven when I ate this. The steak was perfectly cooked. Two thumbs up for me! Together with this dish was

Lamb Bolonese Arancini (risotto balls) Crunchy and full of flavor. The lamb pieces are quite small (well of course lol) but the taste of risotto inside is exploding. Love this dish.

And who said that we won't finish it off with a heartwarming dessert? Of course we will! We ordered Tiramisu (well its not really a great pair with red wine but who cares! I soo love it haha)

I can say its good but not really the best so far after I ate tiramisu at Espressemante Illy. It was delicately done and the mascapone cheese is smooth. Still a good choice for me :D

They served Montepulciano D'Abruzzo (Italian Red Wine) great sweet wine for not so much alcohol drinker like me. It has a fruity taste good to be paired with the food that we ate.

That was a good start for the upcoming "ber" months. Can't wait for October which I'll celebrate my birthday week with food.

***no price was posted for each item since I purchased it in a set.
