Bring Out the Kid in Me

Batman, IronMan, Thor, Ghostbusters, Beauty and the Beast and Mulan name it, they got it.

You might think I'm featuring ToyCon or I'm inside a hobbyist shop; well, you're wrong. My sister and I had our lunch at Sci Fi Cafe.  A toy collection-themed restaurant located at Robinson's Galleria. Opened last May, this restaurant has a unique theme for people who are young at heart.

The gallery was full of action figures from superheroes to sci - fi movie characters to Disney's Princesses -- lol (I know! Disney Princesses aren't action figures but I love them)

just knockin' myself out lol!
Ugh. I think I posted alot of pictures. Your camera will get a load of your pic with your friends cause you can borrow costumes from Harry Potter, head gear of IronMan and Darth Vader and a lot more. Feel the power of awesomeness while eating ei. haha

So its still a restaurant. Aside from the unique interiors and ceiling display, the menu is also different. The names are completely unique. Do you love Lord of the Rings as much as you love eating squid and onion rings? They got The Two Towers for you. (270php)

How about an idol of Arnold Schwarzenegger? you won't be chickened out with The
Chickenator (270php)

The menu was really cool. However we decided to order Sci-Fish and Chips (320php) and Iron Ham Carbonara (280php). Servings are big so we only ordered two dishes.

Well the pasta and the fish are quite salty for me and my sister. I think we ordered the wrong item on the menu, or the chef was just having a bad day. I do really feel him with the dish :(

In all, I still look forward for the success of this restaurant. I hope they can completely execute the awesomeness of the place with the food. For now, its starting with baby steps but we'll never know to how high it can leap with the growing food industry.

Located at 4th Flr. West Wing of Robinsons Galleria.

Its more than a cup can offer

Sunday morning, its rainy outside and my sister decided to hang out. I'm a coffee addict and one cup a day will never be enough. Just to get my second "caffeine - kick" for the day, I looked for a coffee shop inside SM Megamall.

I always loved Japanese coffee, so I decided to stay at Akiba Cafe while waiting for my sister. The barista gave me a warm welcome and offered Nutty Macadamia Kohi which he mentioned their best seller. I'm a little conscious with the sugar since it is already a flavored coffee so I decided to go classic: Tokyo Cappuccino (110 Regular 120 Large)

♥ Great coffee and a great book together ♥

I enjoyed the coffee and the service. The barista remembered that I'm watching the calories of my coffee so he provided me brown sugar without asking :) I'm quite a keen observer with customer service which is one of the reasons I go back to restos and cafes I already visited.

I'm looking forward to visit them again :D I'll try Mt. Fuji Kohi next time

Food on the Run

Nowadays, food is everywhere... well literally. Aside from seeing food markets everywhere, selling food here in the Philippines started to level up. Wanna experience gelato on the go or eat your favorite sushi without dining in the resto? Now they will make your favorite food on wheels!

Popular in the US, these foodcarts can now be seen everywhere in the metro. I was amazed seeing not only one but 7 foodcarts parked in Eastwood City today. They offer different food meals on the go even Italian ice cream. My favorite gelato store Mio Gelati also got a food cart where I decided to “hop in”

Same with their store in Greenhills, they offer different kinds of gelato. From regular vanilla to alcohol infused tequila rose, you can choose anything your taste buds desires. Here are the flavors that they offer
Reese's and Espresso my premium choices

Bailey's and Tequila Rose... I'm soo lucky!

They also got an ongoing promotion :) sweet!

Hope they will stay there every weekend :) One of my favorite gelato shops and will crave for more!!!

Veni, Vidi, Veci... Market Cafe (Hyatt Hotel Malate Manila)

From the famous quote of Julius Ceasar (I came, I saw, I conquer) This buffet is something you won't miss. In continuation of my "cheffy" sister's birthday bash, (Yes, we celebrate birthdays not just for a day) We purchased a deal from Deal Grocer.

Deal Grocer offered Hyatt Hotel's Market Cafe lunch and dinner buffet for 1080php per person. The original price of this exquisite buffet is 1800php so its already a good deal for me :)

We made reservations for 11:30am but because of the HEAVY traffic going to Malate, we arrived at Hyatt Hotel at 12:30nn whew! that's more than an hour drive and that made me sooo hungry.

I don't usually post my own pic but, OK here it goes lol

We got a game plan on this (haha I decided to have this so called game plan because there's a lot of food so better to start right) They reserved table 2 -- nice still near the buffet table and... a couch!! my favorite

Starting off with salad. They got a salad bar and you are free to choose whatever you like. No right or wrong choices, let your heart decide what you like to eat. For my choice, green salad with carrots, dried apricots with blu cheese dressing

For my protein, lamb chops and mushroom wrapped in bacon. They got several types of sauces to choose from. I just have some dijon mustard, whoa! I forgot the other 2 sauces lol (i should have written that)

yes I tried to do some plating lol

feel free to choose
and decide

Market Cafe got different food stations. They have meat and seafood to be grilled as per request, Chinese, Japanese and Korean food stations. I wasn't able to take pictures cause I'm only using my iphone and I'm soo busy with the food hahaha. Quoting what my sister told me, "So many food, So little time"

Not to forget their bread and cold cuts station where you can taste different types of salami, ham and cheeses.

they got olives, parma ham, grilled peppers and cheeses

They also offer canned soda and local beers. All are chilled and its unlimited! If you don't care with the calories, no one will stop you from drinking. You can also request for a cup of ice if you want your drink to be uber cold.

Saving the best for last, the DESSERT bar! and they got loads of it. From the local halo halo to creme brulee name it, they got it. If you venture their dessert bar from the left is the chocolate fondue, then in the middle are the crepe and choice of fillings next to it are small pastries like tarts, pies, cupcakes. In the corner are fruits if your watching your diet (come on! its a buffet remember? lol) and at the back is the ice cream bar and halohalo station.

It became my favorite part of Market Cafe. Having sweet tooth, my choices are limitless. I knew I already hit the wall and eating another batch of food sure will make me bloated. But the desire of taking in that chocolate engulfed me. Good thing I got this principle "Mind over Matter" the brain is quite powerful to give me a good diet for 2 months (yes I lost almost 7kls just by diet alone for 1 and a half months and maintain my weight for the remaining) so I can eat my last batch of food just for this day.

So believe it or not, I got the following for my dessert. First up, pastries galore!

banana tart, red velvet cupcake and leche flan with kiwi and mango slice
my sister's choice: mango gelatin, flan and Crème brûlée which I end up eating
pastry dipped in chocolate, slice of mango and pavlova
BTW, I also ate the pastry -- im soo chocoholic!

Who said I'll forget the crepe? Last year my sis and I went to La Creperie to taste some awesome crepe and now I got the leisure to choose what I love. I call this "the princess' love food"

Crepe filled with chocolate banana filling topped with chocolate chip and strawberry ice cream. I'm planning to ask for whip cream but its too much for me to handle. This was indeed heaven to me. After a couple of minutes, my mind is telling me to stop (Good thing my brain does that lol) It has reached its peak for sugar and better to end up the gastronomic journey and call it a day.

We ended the food frenzy with a great idea from my sister. Soda with lemon just to have a clean taste after eating all of those. I love to go back but we are planning for the themed nights where lobsters are served in the seafood counter.

soda with lemon slices

So better reserve your seats and follow what your stomach, I mean your heart's content. To my "cheffy" sister, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

the Birthday girl :)

My sister is not a chef but I call her "cheffy" cause she is good in innovating food and she's really a great cook. :)

Gastronomical Birthday -- Wee Nam Kee and TWG (Glorietta 1 and Greenbelt 5)

Another year for my "cheffy" sister.  Meaning, another culinary adventure for both of us. My sister invited me to tag along with her after work and have lunch together. June 6, 2013 -- to be precise lol

Since she knew that I love food and I always look for something new, she suggested to take our lunch at Wee Nam Kee.

Great interiors, cozy ambiance and awesome food! No wonder she recommended this restaurant to me.
.

Referring to food, we ordered the cheapest meal they offer. Roasted Hainanese Chicken and Steamed Hainanese Chicken (169php/each)

Roasted Hainanese Chicken

Steamed Hainanese Chicken

The meal was served with rice, and condiments. My sister taught me how to create the sauce. You need to first put the Hoisin sauce then the ginger and if you want some heat, add some chili :)

We didn't stay long since it was a light lunch and I got a plan to treat her somewhere special. We ordered a glass of iced tea which my sister enjoyed. She said it tasted special and she is thinking that they used cane sugar or brown sugar to sweeten it.

Wee Nam Kee is located at G/F Glorietta 1 Palm Drive just beside Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf

After an awesome lunch, she decided to have it my way. I've been planning to visit the tea shop since it first opened in Greenbelt 5. I was excited for her to see it cause she is a tea lover and for me, I'm a crazy coffee addict.

So for our dessert, I treat her to TWG Tea Salon and Boutique. They got 2 branches here in the Philippines; one is at Newport Mall at Resorts World and Greenbelt 5 which we visited yesterday.

TWG originated from Singapore. Known as The Wellness Group, TWG serves tea in a royal manner. I didn't expect that the place was grand and I was treated like a princess (something I like hehe)

Since I'm not familiar with ALL kinds of teas, the waiter provided us a tea book to at least give us an overview of what they offer.

Since its my sister's birthday, we ordered T6006 or what we call Happy Birthday Tea. Yes! there is a Happy Birthday Tea. You can check it in their link http://www.twgtea.com/TCLoose-Blends.php

Happy Birthday Tea 195php

Tea was served in a golden pot together with 2 small tea cups elegantly designed for TWG. We also ordered some muffins and it compliments the type of tea we chose.

Muffins 150php 2pcs

Even the muffins are elegantly served. I can stay here for long! Indeed a great place to relax and to take a time off from stress by having a good cup of tea.

A must try and highly recommended. If you love chic places, royal service, awesome dessert and wonderful cup of tea, this place is for you.
